For two days, the members of the Institute provided information on current research projects under the thematic bracket “Brick products - production, application and recycling”. As in previous years, more than 50 participants from the German and European brick and supplier industry gathered at the Essener Hof.

Zwei Tage lang informierten die Mitglieder des Instituts über aktuelle Forschungsvorhaben unter der thematischen Klammer „Ziegelprodukte – Herstellung, Anwendung und Wiederverwertung“. Wie in den vergangenen Jahren versammelten sich mehr als 50 Teilnehmende aus der deutschen und europäischen Ziegel- und Zulieferbranche im Essener Hof.

From September 16 to 18, 2022, the Professor Practice Days took place in Berlin, organized by the university team of the Federal Association of the German Brick and Tile Industry (BVZi). 45 teachers from universities and colleges in Germany participated in the conference on Friday and the two excursions on the following weekend. The event ties in with the annual professor conferences and excursions hosted by the former Brick Center South from 2006 to 2019. Due to Corona, these had been cancelled in the past two years.

September 2022 fanden in Berlin die Professor:innen-Praxistage statt, organisiert vom Hochschulteam des Bundesverbands der Deutschen Ziegelindustrie (BVZi). 45 Lehrende aus Universitäten und Hochschulen in Deutschland nahmen an der Tagung am Freitag und den beiden Exkursionen am folgenden Wochenende teil. Die Veranstaltung knüpft an die von 2006 bis 2019 jährlich vom ehemaligen Ziegelzentrum Süd ausgerichteten Professorentagungen und -exkursionen an. Coronabedingt waren diese in den vergangenen zwei Jahren ausgefallen.

| A loss of Russian gas supplies would have massive production losses in the German brick and tile industry and considerable effects on upstream and downstream sectors. This is the result of a specification study carried out by Prognos on behalf of the Federal Association of the German Brick and Tile Industry (BVZi). The aim of the study is to transfer the consequences of a gas supply stop to the specific conditions of the industry. The precursor study “Consequences of a supply disruption of Russian gas for German industry” published in the summer was used as a basis. The scenario and the time period, second half of 2022, were adopted. Industry-specific features were taken into account to specify the impact assessment.

| Ein Ausfall russischer Gaslieferungen hätte massive Produktionsausfälle in der deutschen Ziegelindustrie und erhebliche Effekte auf die vor- und nachgelagerten Branchen. Das ist das Ergebnis einer von Prognos durchgeführten Spezifikationsstudie im Auftrag des Bundesverbands der Deutschen Ziegelindustrie (BVZi). Ziel der Untersuchung ist, die Folgen eines Gaslieferstopps auf die konkreten Bedingungen der Branche zu übertragen. Als Basis wurde die im Sommer veröffentlichte Vorläuferstudie „Folgen einer Lieferunterbrechung von russischem Gas für die deutsche Industrie“ genutzt. Das Szenario und der Zeitraum, zweites Halbjahr 2022, wurden übernommen. Zur Spezifikation der Folgenermittlung wurden branchenspezifische Besonderheiten berücksichtigt.

According to the third quarter announcement, Wienerberger recorded consolidated revenues of 3,848.0 million euros in the first nine months of the 2022 financial year (previous year: 2,896.5 million euros). Revenues include consolidation contributions of 391.7 million euros from companies acquired in the second half of 2021. Despite a challenging and volatile market environment, EBITDA in the same period was significantly above the previous year‘s level (510.1 million euros) at 835.4 million euros. Operating earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT operating) amounted to 629.1 million euros, an increase of almost 95 percent compared to the previous year (2022: 323.3 million euros).

| Laut Mitteilung zum 3. Quartal erzielte Wienerberger in den ersten neun Monaten des Geschäftsjahres 2022 einen Konzernumsatz von 3.848,0 Mio. Euro (Vorjahr: 2.896,5 Mio. Euro). Die Umsatzerlöse enthalten Konsolidierungsbeiträge von im zweiten Halbjahr 2021 erworbenen Unternehmen in Höhe von 391,7 Mio. Euro. Das EBITDA lag trotz eines herausfordernden und volatilen Marktumfelds im selben Zeitraum mit 835,4 Mio. Euro deutlich über dem Vorjahresniveau (510,1 Mio. Euro). Das operative Betriebsergebnis vor Zinsen und Steuern (EBIT operativ) betrug 629,1 Mio. Euro, ein Anstieg von fast 95 Prozent gegenüber dem Vorjahr (2022: 323,3 Mio. Euro).
